A quick decision early May resulted in me boarding a plane three weeks later, heading to Berlin, Germany, for a couple of weeks. Having just completed my first year of photojournalism, the need to travel, to explore and to discover was burning inside me and I think it sparked a little something in me that had remained dormant for quite some time.
The city was beautiful, the graffiti was political, real and often didn't make sense, all the same time. I don't know if my lack of German had a major role in that or not. I played tourist and I played observer, both roles which I slid into easily. There's always something exotic about a new place and Berlin was no different for me. The hardest part was sifting through my short stay and piecing together what I feel is an accurate representation of my experience.
I hope the next dozen or so posts speak for me.
