Street Photography

One of the things I learned quickly upon arrival in Berlin, aside from realizing I adored the vibe of the city, was that I really like shooting street photography. I spent a lot of time alone as an observer, and there were so many things that were such a constant stimulation of the senses. History and pain intertwined with new growth and rehabilitation is what I noticed here. It was apparent from the massive reconstruction of landmarks to the small dried paint spots of an old artists can. I love sitting and watching, which is probably a good thing because I spent a lot of time by myself and my German is about on par with my ability to speak swahili. Terrible.

Berlin amused me right from the get-go, because you never quite know what you're going to see. There were times I could not even pick up my camera as I just let life happen and watched it unfold. I saw a man on a unicycle riding down a hill with his young daughter perched on his shoulders in her school uniform. No big deal, just another day and way to get picked up after school.

Here is a little collection of my days watching the world.
