August 10, 2010 - The peaks of Grose Morne mountain, in Grose Morne National Park, Newfoundland, are hidden among the evening fog.
The view from Berry Pond was spectacular this evening as we hiked the little trail from our newest campsite to the pond for sunset. The bluish cast of the sky reflecting off the water was breathtaking. We sat until the sun was almost completely out of the sky and took in every last drop of this day, which also happened to be the last in this most recent road trip across the province. It has been unexplainable.
Spending the better part of the last week in a tent, mountain air, salt water breeze, campfires and cook ups, hikes and days on the beach searching for treasures, has been just an excellent end of summer relaxation time before heading back into another year of both schoolwork and real life jobs. I've lived in Newfoundland all my life and this is the first time I've ever been able to see this side of the Province. My first time ever discovering Gros Morne and still there's so much more to discover. No doubt in my mind I will make my way back here, someday sooner then later I hope. A simplistic and easy life always refuels me and takes me back to a place I am happy. I'm a country girl no doubt, and although I love the busy hectic life of the city, nothing in this world could keep me away from this for very long.
