This past summer my partner and I, along with her parents and aunt and uncle, went on a lighthouse picnic. I'd grown up about 15 minutes away from here and although I never did the picnic part before, I'd been to the lighthouse and knew it's scenery was a gem.
A 20 minute walk to a quaint little lighthouse that fits every bit of that cozy picture of rural Newfoundland you could possibly think of. The smell of fresh baked bread when you walk in the door, the view out the windows from inside and the surrounding area of ocean as you stand at the edge of the land. Whales were plentiful this year and we sat on blankets listening to their songs, watching the spray of blowholes and the splash of tales coming out of the water all around us. The food was delicious, sandwiches of your choice freshly made, delicious custom salad, fresh rhubarb or apple dessert and homemade lemonade in mason jars to wash it all down with.
Despite the sudden weather change from blue sky's and puffy clouds to gray and drizzly, it was the best dinner and show I've had to date.
